Profile

What it is

Braces apply gentle, continuous pressure that moves teeth through the bone into their correct positions. Straight teeth are easier to clean, wear more evenly and, for most people, make a big difference to how confident they feel smiling.

An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed a further three-year specialisation in tooth movement and jaw growth. That training matters most in complex cases: gummy smiles, open bites, crossbites and cases that need extractions or mini-implants.

Your options

Metal braces

The most proven and economical option; modern brackets are smaller than you remember.

Ceramic braces

Tooth-coloured brackets that are far less visible.

Damon self-ligating braces

Brackets with a built-in clip instead of elastic ties, with fewer adjustment steps.

Clear aligners

Removable, near-invisible trays. See Invisalign & clear aligners.

How treatment works

  1. 01

    Consultation

Examination, photographs and X-rays; you hear what can be corrected and the options available.

  2. 02

    Treatment plan

Your orthodontist explains the plan, the expected duration and what each option involves.

  3. 03

    Fitting

Brackets are bonded to the teeth and the first wire is placed. It is not painful.

  4. 04

    Adjustments

Regular visits, usually every few weeks, to adjust the wires and check progress.

  5. 05

    Retainers

After braces come off, retainers hold the teeth in their new positions.

Patients on braces & orthodontics

In their own words.

I had a gummy smile and consulted several orthodontists before coming here, but no one truly understood my case. Dr. Brijesh was the first doctor who patiently listened, understood the root cause, and explained the entire treatment plan. Throughout my treatment, which involved TADs, tooth extractions, and Damon braces, everything was smooth and well-managed. He never recommended unnecessary procedures. I could never truly smile until I was 27, when my braces finally came off. Today, I smile without thinking twice.

My first visit to dental clinic and I must say it was an amazing experience. Initially I was really scared and conscious about braces and my friends had even shared their dental experiences and pain they went through, however during my first visit Dr. Brijesh Patel explained me about the whole process, he was confident, calm and professional.

Excellent service provided by Dr Brijesh Patel. I had undergone treatment for teeth protrusion. Initially I was very skeptical about having braces on but it was the sheer confidence that my doctor had which helped me to overcome my fears. Having undergone treatment, the results definitely speak of themselves.

FAQ

Braces & Orthodontics: your questions.

Am I too old for braces?

No. Teeth can be moved at any age as long as the gums and bone are healthy. Many of our braces patients are adults.

How long does braces treatment take?

Most cases take somewhere between one and two years. Simple cases can be faster and complex cases longer. You get a realistic estimate for your case at the consultation.

Do braces hurt?

Fitting braces is painless. Teeth usually feel sore for a few days after fitting and after adjustments, which settles on its own. Patients who were scared of braces often write that it was far easier than they expected.

What age should a child first see an orthodontist?

An early check around age 7 lets the orthodontist spot jaw-growth and bite problems that are easier to guide while the child is still growing.
